Editor's Pick:
What a terrific combination documentary and performance DVD.
Directed by Charles H. Wood, this fine production about the life of Félix Baloy, from his humble beginnings to his current stature as one of the most popular and charismatic contemporary Cuban soneros, is a must-have.
Born in 1944 in Mayari, he started working early on to help out his family — first as a laborer, then milkman, than shoemaker. A huge fan of Beny Moré, Baloy joined Elio Reve's group in 1956. After his stay with Reve he joined Raul Planas in the group Tropicuba, and then on to Son 14 under the directorship of Adalberto Alvarez. Later Baloy would become the lead singer for the Afro-Cuban All Stars with Juan De Marcos and would eventually, in 2002, form his own band.
This is a quality production, and the DVD allows you to either watch the full presentation with live performances interspersed within the documentary, or, if you prefer, you may choose to watch only the performance segments.
Comes complete with two separate discs for either NTSC or PAL viewing worldwide.
Subtitles in English, Spanish, French, German and Japanese. Wow!
Very Highly Recommended.

This very personal DVD offers an insight into the daily life in Cuba, of Felix Baloy with his colleagues and personal friends. This is contrasted with the excitement of a world tour and the truly beautiful music played and captured splendidly on this excellent video.

The DVD is offered as a dual PAL/NTSC pack so it will play anywhere in the world. It makes the perfect present for anyone who enjoyed the story of the Buena Vista Social Club and the music of Cuba.
