You’ve got some of the best Cuban Rueda dancers taking part – Leo Henriquez, Damarys Farres, Osbanis Tejeda and Claudine Baker, plus music by Alex Wilson and Osvaldo Chacon - so you know it’s going to deliver. There are three Ruedas and one Salsa Casino performed live, showing 40 moves including classics like Dile que no, Enchufla and Setenta.
It’s all interactive and there are three levels for beginners, intermediates and advanced dancers. Each move is shown from four different camera angles, allowing you to check out any of the moves as they’re performed and learn at your own pace. There are downsides; because you learn by watching live dance, moves are not broken down and this doesn’t make it ideal for absolute beginners.
This is great value, with great production values and gives students a way of remembering moves they learn in class. It was useful seeing the names of the moves written down – I had no idea they were spelt like that! Moe Flex

"Spirit of Cuba" video introduces the Afro-Cuban legends of the Orishas, each with their own tastes and dance style. Many people in Cuba still follow the wise teachings embedded in these stories which have been passed down orally for many generations from their Yoruban African roots. Vocal Baobab demonstrates dance and illustrates in video a modern style of the music and dances from these traditions. At last you may understand why so many song lyrics include dedications to Yemaya and the other Orishas. These Afro-Cuban chants are presented in a choral style.
